On Thursday, May 14, the Citizens Alliance for the Oakland County Probate and Circuit Courts will conduct a free seminar etitled “Removing the Mysteries of Probate Court” in conjunction with the City of Novi Older Adult Services at the Novi Civic Center from 1 to 3 p.m. This program is designed to enlighten and educate senior citizens and their families so that they may make informed decisions regarding their estate planning and understand the probate process. The Novi Civic Center is located at 45175 W. Ten Mile Road in Novi.
The seminar will provide attendees with information on wills, trusts, powers of attorney, how to begin probate proceedings, when to consider use of guardianships and conservatorships, and how “avoiding probate” could cause more harm than good.
Panelists will include Jill Koney Daly, probate register for the Oakland County Probate Court, and attorney Lisa J. Walters from Couzens, Lansky, Fealk, Ellis, Roeder, & Lazar PC in Farmington Hills. Materials will be available and adequate time will be available for questions.
