The National Business Institute will present "As Judges See It: Best (and Worst) Practices in Civil Litigation" on Thursday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Detroit Marriott Southfield, 27033 Northwestern Highway. Attendees can spend a day with the local judges and hear about their rules, preferences, and pet peeves when it comes to case scheduling, exchange and use of exhibits, proportionality of discovery and conduct at voir dire and trial. This course offers attorneys an opportunity to get answers to the questions they've always wanted to ask judges while learning what to do (and what not to do) to speed up cases and build credibility with the court. Attendees will: -Get practical pointers from the judges for navigating the court system. -Hear local judges' thoughts on choosing the right resolution method based on the complexity of the case. -Draft summary judgment motions that contain all the information the judge needs to make the decision. -Discover how to efficiently and tactfully educate the judge on your case. -Ensure that all your motions comply with the court's requirements. -Understand how the bench views expert testimony. -Learn how to make the best of pre-trial conferences and what issues you want to cover ahead of time. -Get judges' viewpoints on desired and unacceptable attorney conduct at trial. Cost is $359 which includes audio CD and course book. To register, call 1-800-930-6182 or visit www.nbi-sems.com. Published: Tue, Sep 15, 2015
