Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Chairman Michael J. Gingell announces that the board will fill the commission seat in District 15, no later than 30 days from the formal resignation of current Commissioner Jeff Matis. Matis was recently appointed as a judge to the Oakland County Sixth Judicial Circuit Court by Governor Rick Snyder. Gingell states: “The state statute provides that the Board has up to 30 days to fill a vacant seat so that the local communities will not have to incur the cost of conducting a special election. The Board will act on this vacancy within the 30 day time limit.”
The Board of Commissioners will receive applications for the vacant commission seat representing the communities of the City of Rochester and a large portion of the City of Rochester Hills from Tuesday, November 3, through Friday, November 13.
Residents living in any portion of District 15, who are interested in completing the remainder of the commission term ending on December 31, 2016, should complete an application and send their qualifications to the attention of Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Chairman Michael J. Gingell. Mail information to the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, 1200 North Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan 48341. Information on the required application and process can be found on the Oakland County BOC website at www.oakgov.com/boc. All applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, November 13, in order to qualify.
