Life in prison for two in fatal shooting tied to marijuana

PONTIAC (AP) - Two men have been sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of a young Oakland County man during a break-in and search for marijuana.

The no-parole sentences were mandatory Tuesday for 23-year-old Donald Davis and 26-year-old Blake Marcum.

Jacob Hershberger was shot a year ago at his Waterford Township apartment. Police said Davis believed that Hershberger had received a large amount of marijuana.

Marcum was accused of firing the fatal shot, but Oakland County Judge Martha Anderson pinned much of the blame on Davis. She says he "set the ball rolling."

The Oakland Press says a third defendant, Terrence Bunting Jr., will be sentenced on Nov. 30.
