FBA Book Club to meet November 18 at courthouse

The Federal Bar Association Book Club will meet Wednesday, Nov. 18, to discuss "Sisters in Law: How Sandra Day O'Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg Went to the Supreme Court and Changed the World," a book written by Linda Hirshman.

The meeting will begin at noon in the Judges' Conference Center, Room 722, of the Theodore Levin United States Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette in Detroit.

"Linda Hirshman's biography of the first and second woman to serve on the nation's highest court is a gossipy, funny, sometimes infuriating and moving tale of two women so similar and yet so different," according to a testimonial from National Public Radio (NPR).

The author will be speaking to the FBA Book Club via video conference. There is no admission fee for FBA members, while the cost is $5 for non-members. Lunch will be offered for $10.

To participate in the book club, register online at www.fbamich.org or contact Brian Figot, executive director, at 248-594-5950. The primary goal of the book club, according to Figot, is to "facilitate an informal but elevated dialogue between the bench and the bar."
