Nearly 3.2M from Mich. traveling for holidays
DEARBORN (AP) - AAA projects nearly 3.2 million people from Michigan plan to travel for the year-end holiday season.
The auto club says nearly 2 percent more than last year from Michigan are expected to go 50 miles or more from home. Dearborn-based AAA Michigan says that's the highest travel volume for the holiday period in 14 years, the period it's been collecting numbers.
Most plan to be driving for the holidays, including Christmas and New Year's Day. Others making trips will take planes, buses or trains.
Travelers will see relatively low gas prices. According to AAA, the statewide weekly average price for a gallon of gasoline has been below the $2 per gallon mark for the past few weeks.
