Jarbou (left) was officially sworn in as the newest member of the Oakland County Circuit Court bench on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Oakland County Board of Commissioners auditorium in Pontiac.  Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Nanci Grant (right) administered the oath of office and welcomed Jarbou to the bench.

The Oakland County Circuit Court recently welcomed Judge Hala Jarbou who was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Oakland County Circuit bench in late fall of 2015.

Jarbou became the 70th Oakland County Circuit Court judge and was officially sworn in at her investiture held Wednesday, Jan. 20.  In addition to the large crowd of extended family, friends, and former colleagues present to support her, she was surrounded by a large contingency of judiciary from the United States federal court, Michigan Supreme Court, Michigan Court of Appeals, as well as circuit, district, and retired judges from Oakland County.

Oakland County 48th District Court Judge Diane D’Agostini, and a former colleague of Jarbou’s, moved for the admission of Jarbou to the court which Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Nanci J. Grant eagerly granted.

Before swearing Jarbou in,  Grant stated “It is a testament to Judge Jarbou’s ability, strong ethics, integrity, and honesty to have so many justices and judges on hand to witness this event.”  Grant continued “I am thrilled and honored to swear Judge Jarbou in and know that she will be an amazing addition to the bench.”

Jarbou graduated from Wayne State University Law School and joined the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office in 1997 where she served in various roles until 2010 when she was appointed as an assistant attorney in the United States Attorney’s office.  It was during her tenure with the U.S. Attorney’s office that she was tapped by the governor to become an Oakland County Circuit Court judge.
Upon joining the Oakland County bench, Jarbou was assigned to the civil/criminal docket formerly assigned to Judge Rudy Nichols who retired in mid-2015.
