Michigan Supreme Court Justice to speak in support of Scouts, May 17

Michigan Crossroads Council, Boy Scouts of America's local program to support the youth in downriver communities, will feature Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian K. Zahra as the guest speaker for Boy Scouts of America's local breakfast to benefit more than 2,500 youth from the downriver communities. The event takes place Tuesday, May 17, from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Park Place Catering and Banquet Hall, 23400 Park St. in Dearborn

The breakfast directly supports Boy Scouts of America's mission to strengthen youth through the Scouting program that builds self-confidence, academic, and leadership skills that will prepare them for adulthood. The breakfast will inspire community, civic and business leaders to act upon a call to service. Contributing monetary donations will support more downriver youth becoming involved in the Scouting program that will help shape their lives.

Zahra will be discussing the importance of supporting Scouting and the significance of instilling leadership skills in youth. He was appointed to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2011. He was subsequently elected in November 2012 to a partial term and then re-elected him in November 2014 to a full term. Zahra also served on the Michigan Board of Law Examiners which drafts and grades the examination that law school graduates must pass in order to become licensed attorneys. He is currently a Senior Fellow of Law and Public Policy at the University of Michigan, Dearborn campus. He previously served on the adjunct faculty at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School.
