The Oakland County Circuit Court conducted its first Urban Drug Court (UDC) graduation on Wednesday, August 31, in the Board of Commissioners auditorium adjacent to the Oakland County courthouse in Pontiac. Twenty-three participants successfully completed the program and were recognized at the graduation ceremony. Taking part in the program were (front row, left to right) Oakland County Circuit Court Judges Phyllis McMillen and Michael Warren, along with (back row, left to right) UDC Program Coordinator Ebony McCann, UDC probation agent Candice Dunn, and former UDC probation agent Bobbie Benton. The Oakland County Circuit Court UDC is a grant-funded joint collaboration between the Governor’s office and the Michigan Supreme Court. The UDC is designed to work with offenders with a history of substance abuse who commit non-violent felonies within the city of Pontiac. As a requirement of probation, the participants agree to receive integrated drug treatment and rehabilitation services and frequent court reviews. Judges Phyllis McMillen, Michael Warren, and Daniel P. O’Brien monitor referrals on behalf of the Oakland County Circuit Court to the UDC on a rotational basis.
