The Book Club of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, discussed “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” by Michelle Alexander on Wednesday, May 3, at Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. Featured panelists included (seated, left to right) Chief Federal Defender Miriam Siefer, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood, U.S. District Court Judge Sean F. Cox, and Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel Lemisch (standing, right). The discussion was moderated by Andrew S. Doctoroff (standing, left), co-chair of the Book Club Committee. The primary goal of the FBA Book Club is to facilitate an informal but elevated dialogue between the bench and the bar. The book club is non-partisan.
