Information Technology Law Section planning annual meeting, seminar

The State Bar of Michigan Information Technology Law Section will conduct its annual meeting and IT seminar on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Inn at St. John’s, 44045 Five Mile Rd. in Plymouth.

Topics include: Cybersecurity — Breaking Down the Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) of Information Security with Chris Burrows, CIO, Oakland County; Software Licensing — Vendor & Customer Perspectives with Ward Classen of Astea International; New EU Data Privacy Requirements — GDPR & Privacy Shield with Robert Rothman and Keith Cheresko of Privacy Associates International; Immigration Developments for IT Companies with Jim Aldrich of Dykema; Trade Secrets Update with Scott Daniels of Westerman, Hattori, Adrian, and Daniels; and Business Website Best Practices with Susan Kornfield of Bodman.

The section’s annual meeting will be held briefly during lunch break which is free to attend, but registration is requested. It will include the election of 2017-2018 council members and section officers.

Cost for the seminar is $70 for members, $120 for non-section members, $20 for non-section students, and is free to section students. Price includes seminar, breakfast, lunch, and a networking reception.
