Seminar offered before 'Meet the Judges Party'

The Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) New Lawyers Committee (NLC) will present the seminar “May It Please the Court: Navigating the Business Court” prior to the “Meet the Judges Party” on Thursday, May 17. The seminar will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Emagine Theatre, 200 N. Main Street in Royal Oak.

A panel of judges will  present their perspectives on practicing in the business court including common issues, alternative dispute resolution, preliminary injunctions, and technology.

The panel of judges will include Oakland County Circuit Court Judges James M. Alexander and Wendy L. Potts, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Kathryn A. Viviano, and Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Lita Masini Popke.

Space for this special seminar event preceeding the “Meet the Judges Party” will be limited to the first 25 people registered.

The cost is $15 for OCBA members who want to only attend the seminar and $55 for OCBA members who want to attend the seminar and the party. The cost for non-OCBA members for the seminar only is $25 and $90 for the seminar and the party.

The “Meet the Judges Party” takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. allowing attendees to network with fellow lawyers, judges, and distinguished guests of the State of Michigan and Oakland County.

Judges from the following courts have been invited:

• All Oakland County district courts
• Sixth Judicial Circuit Court
• Oakland County Probate Court
• Michigan Court of Appeals, First District
• Michigan Court of Appeals, Second District
• Michigan Supreme Court
• U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Michigan
• U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan

Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available throughout the evening.

A silent auction will take place until 7:30 p.m. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Hope Against Trafficking.
