Board hears budget overview, honors student organization

During its Thursday, July 19, meeting, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners heard the recommended budget overview from Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. For his presentation, Patterson discussed several factors that shaped the three-year, balanced budget recommendation with a five-year outlook. Also during the July 19 meeting in the Board of Commissioners Auditorium at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac, Commissioner Marcia Gershenson (center) presented a proclamation honoring Engage18—a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, founded by high school students. As a registered 501(c)4, Engage18 aims to increase the youth voter turnout and spark political interest in young people with voter registration drives, candidate debates, town halls, and more. Proudly accepting the recognition were Engage18 Communications Manager Riya Doshi (left), a junior at Bloomfield Hills High School; and Engage18 Event Coordinator Michael Goldman Brown Jr. (right), a graduate of Bloomfield Hills High School’s Class of 2018.
