Get to Know Danielle Lofton

Danielle Lofton is an attorney with Fraser Trebilcock, working primarily in the firm’s Lansing office.

She focuses her practice on insurance defense, representing clients with personal injury claims including no-fault cases for several years. She has routinely secured early dismissals through successful motions and negotiated favorable settlements for her clients.

Lofton previously was an employment recruiter, assisting ex-felons in their return to the workplace.

A resident of Holt, Lofton earned her undergrad degree from Bowling Green State University, and graduated from Cooley Law School where she was ranked second in her class and received several merit-based awards.

She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and a board member, Junior Achievement of Mid-Michigan. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching the Detroit Lions, and playing basketball.

What would surprise people about your job? There can be a ton of math involved.

Why did you become a lawyer? I enjoy being intellectually challenged and I have a passion to help others resolve conflict.

What’s your favorite law-related TV show, movie, and/or book? The TV series,“Taking the Stand.”

Who are your law role models – real and/or fictional? My uncle, my mother-in- law, and Annalise Keating (the lawyer character in the TV show, “How to Get Away with Murder”).

If you could trade places with someone for a day, who would that be? Ramit Sethi – personal finance adviser.

What advice do you have for someone considering law school? It is important to figure out the best time of the day to study so that you are able to retain the information you learn. It is even more important that you schedule time for self-care routines.

What’s your proudest moment as a lawyer? Having a former client find me online just to tell me how happy she was with how hard I fought for her.

What do you do to relax? Spa day and play NFL Pro Era on Meta Quest.

What other career path might you have chosen? Becoming a psychologist.

What would you say to your 16-year-old self? Keep your head up because everything will be okay.

What is your happiest childhood memory? Going on a Disney cruise with my mom and older sister.

What is your most treasured material possession?
My basketball, football, and Pokémon collectible trading cards.

What do you wish someone would invent?
A dream recording machine.

What has been your favorite year so far and why? 2019 because it is the year I got sworn in and I can remember the look in my mom’s eyes – she was very proud.

What’s the most awe-inspiring place you’ve ever been? Grenada

If you could have one super power, what would it be? Atmokinesis and healing.

What’s one thing you would like to learn to do? Programming in the form of music production

What is something most people don't know about you? I placed top 5 out of 150 participants in a basketball competition.

If you could have dinner with three people, past or present, who would they be? My mom, grandpa, and music artist JoJo (Joanna Levesque).

What’s the best advice you ever received? Always be kind and patient because you never know what someone else might be going through.

What is your motto? Nothing is impossible even the word itself says “I’m possible.”
 
Which living person do you most admire? My significant other.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement? Graduating second in my law school class.

What is the most unusual thing you have done? I took ballroom and salsa dance lessons.
