For an event that had been cancelled an hour earlier, the annual WLAM Softball Event was a big success.
Despite assurance that there was access to Buhr Park, Elizabeth Kitchen-Troop, president of WLAM, Washtenaw Region, arrived to find road blocks and no available baseball field. Kitchen-Troop sent out a cancellation notice. But many were already on their way to the park and didn't get the news.
Enter, Plan B. The event was moved to Allen Elementary, where the law professionals and their friends and family had to play on an open field using paper plates for bases because a Little League team was using the other field.
Spirits high, the game went on. And in the end, a good time was had by all.
