Residence: Scio Township. What is your idea of perfect happiness? Family vacation in Europe. What is your greatest fear? That America won't be as wonderful a place for my future grandchildren. Which living person do you most admire? Hillary Clinton What is the trait you hate most in yourself? Impulsive eating. What is the trait you hate most in others? Inability to seek a sensible solution because of anger and wounded pride. If you suddenly had an extra room in your house, what would you do with it? Make it messy. What was your most memorable meal? My wife has distant relatives who live in a small village in Southern Italy. They cooked homemade pizza and pasta and lamb for us using ingredients grown entirely on the family farm. If you could take back one thing you did ... Words spoken in anger to those I love. What is your most treasured possession? My good name. If you could do one thing professionally ... I'm doing it... What are your favorite websites? NYT.com, Netflix, iTunes, realclearpolitics.com. Your proudest moment(s) as a lawyer? Last June, in front of my 14 year-old son, I tried a case on the west side of the state and I brought tears of joy to my client. It's 7 a.m. Monday. How are you feeling? Like a caffeine addict in need of a fix. What would surprise people about your job? I spend most of my time practicing law because managing the firm is not that time-consuming with such competent and mature colleagues. Introvert or extrovert? I'm not a shy guy. What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Beauty. When and where were you happiest? The birth of each of my sons. Also, I had a terrific birthday party when I turned 5. (Thanks, Mom, for the Snoopy theme.) What's your greatest achievement: Married 21 years, happy kids. What's the oddest thing you ever bought? My ridiculous office furniture that I had made in Colorado so that my office could feel more "western-y". What would be your ideal job? I'm doing it. I manage to mix being a civil rights lawyer/small-business owner/spend the day working with people I genuinely care about and admire. What one thing do you wish people knew about your work? I have an old-fashioned reverence for looking after my client's best interest and well-being. What one habit do you wish you could break? Treating my car like a junkyard. What is something most people don't know about you? I take tap dance classes. What do you wish more people understood? There is a difference between pride and principle, and that victory is not the measure of life. If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be? Plato, Cicero, Benjamin Franklin. Who is your favorite character of fiction? Any of Phillip Roth's neurotic Jewish men. Favorite movie: Casablanca. What's one thing you can do now that you couldn't do 20 years ago? Understand where my parents were coming from. Favorite place to spend money: Delta Airlines. What is your motto?
