Van Hoek, whose team name is “Stonewall,” is an assistant defender in the State Appellate Defender Office in Detroit and an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School. His wife, Dawn Van Hoek, who plays on the Chelsea Merrimac (“Merries”) Club Civil War era team, is director of SADO. Both are graduates of the University of Michigan and Wayne Law.
