Commissioners to honor Patriot Week creators
The Oakland County Board of Commissioners will honor Patriot Week creators Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren and his daughter, Leah Warren, at the Wednesday, Nov. 2, Board meeting beginning at 7 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners Auditorium. The auditorium is located at 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac. The meeting is open and free to the public.
Oakland County Commissioner David W. Potts will present the proclamations to Judge Warren and Leah, which will be signed by the full board. Since the creation of Patriot Week in 2009, many recognitions of the week have been celebrated across the nation. Patriot Week renews the spirit of America and celebrates "Our Nation's First Principles, Our Founding Fathers and Other Patriots."
Also on that evening, Oakland County Commissioners John A. Scott and Jim Nash, who are veterans, will read a proclamation celebrating the importance of Veterans Day. The proclamation will be signed by the full board to commemorate the sacrifices of veterans and to thank the countless men and women who have in the past and presently serve our nation.
It will also encourage veterans and the public to attend the upcoming Veterans Fair being held Satuday, Nov. 12, at Oakland Schools in Waterford located at 2111 Pontiac Lake Road. The fair is free to the public and will begin at 10 a.m. For additional information, call 248-471-3759.
As a body, the Board of Commissioners support the brave men and women in uniform and are pleased to acknowledge the service of Commissioners John and Nash.
Scott, a Vietnam Veteran, was a Cryptotech Second Class Petty Officer (CTR2) in the United States Navy.
Nash, who chairs the Fort Michigan Ad Hoc Committee hosting the Veterans Fair, is a veteran who served as a member of the United States Army Medical Corp. 1977 to 1980.
