International law moot court team places 3rd in regional competition

Wayne State University Law School congratulates its international law moot court team members Nicholas Mull, Maggie Stalker, Natalia Santanna, Nadia Igram and Rachel Hom on an impressive third-place finish in the Midwest regional round of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Twenty-four schools participated in the competition, which took place Feb. 9-12 at Chicago-Kent College of Law of the Illinois Institute of Technology. Mull received the top oralist award, Igram was the seventh place oralist and Hom was the 14th place oralist. The team's brief won first place. After the preliminary rounds in the tournament, the Wayne Law team was ranked first in the region. They advanced to the quarter-finals and then the semi-finals, along with Case Western Reserve University, Duke University and Northwestern University. "This was an outstanding performance by a group of very hardworking students," said Gregory Fox, Wayne Law professor and faculty advisor to the team. "We are proud of their accomplishments in this prestigious competition." The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world's largest moot court competition. The competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. Published: Mon, Feb 27, 2012
