Significant changes ahead-- Ann Arbor attorney to lead America Invents Act webinar
Eric Sosenko, a shareholder in the Ann Arbor office of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione in Ann Arbor, will lead a webinar from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 discussing action steps companies need to take now to prepare for the next stages of patent reform outlined in the America Invents Act (AIA).
With passage of the America Invents Act, many changes affecting the protection of intellectual property have already been implemented. Additional significant changes will continue to go into effect over the next 12 months, according to Sosenko, who chairs Brinks' Patent Reform Committee.
Sosenko, along with Brinks' attorney Timothy Delaney, will address what businesses should be doing now in view of the current state of the law and upcoming changes. The webinar will focus on several key topics:
* Inter partes review: What it is, preparing for it and proper utilization of the re-examination procedure; what makes sense for your business now?
* Prioritized examination: Its effectiveness and availability; will it be available when you want it?
* Virtual marking: An option whose time has come; why and how to use it
* First inventor to file: It's 12 months away - what actions need to be taken now to have the greatest impact on your company's IP?
* Supplemental examination: It will be here in less than 6 months; should your company care?
* Third party submission of prior art: Should you be preparing now to take advantage of this tool?
