Ann Arbor attorney publishes article on patent reform
Eric Sosenko, a shareholder in the Ann Arbor office of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, and chair of Brinks' Patent Reform Task Force, has published an article on how patent reform in the America Invents Act (AIA) will impact the medical device industry.
The article, titled "Patent Reform: Is the Cure Worse than the Disease?" was published in the April 19 edition of MX, a publication of the Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry.
The thesis of Sosenko's article is that first-to-file and prior art revisions of the AIA, which take effect March 16, 2013, will impact the patent strategies of medical device companies. Further, given the rapid pace of innovation in the medical technology field, companies in the near future will be pressured to file patent applications as quickly as possible in order to maintain competitive advantage.
