Jail inmate sentenced in arson solicitation case

HOWELL, Mich. (AP) -- A Livingston County jail inmate who authorities say tried to get a fellow prisoner to burn down his home has been sentenced to up to five years behind bars. WHMI-FM and the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell report 31-year-old Jeremy Wilds of Iosco Township received the punishment last Thursday. Wilds apologized in court, saying he's "learned from this." He earlier pleaded guilty to an arson-related charge. A former inmate said that Wilds, who was jailed in an assault and domestic violence case, offered him $50,000 to burn down his home last year before his pending divorce from his wife. The inmate said Wilds claimed payment would come from a $250,000 insurance policy on the home. The inmate also said Wilds drew a map of the property. Published: Mon, Jun 25, 2012
