Open carry event features seminars, gun safety
SOUTHFIELD (AP) -- Seminars and firearm safety training will be featured during the three-day Personal Protection Weekend.
The event begins Aug. 11 with seminars at the Comfort Suites in Southfield.
Seminar topics include empowering survivors of domestic violence, building safe communities, using Tasers for personal protection and Michigan's concealed pistol regulations.
Free firearm training will be held Aug. 12 at the Target Sports Gun Range in Orchard Lake, northwest of Detroit.
A dinner supporting the open carry gun rights movement in Michigan is scheduled for Aug. 13 in Detroit. Several national gun rights advocates are expected to speak.
