The Diversity in the Legal Profession Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School are pleased to participate in the Patriot Week panel discussion titled "The First Amendment in the Digital Age: What Will Free Speech and Free Press Mean in a Minority-Majority Era?"
The discussion will take place Thursday, Sept. 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Room 145 at Cooley's Auburn Hills campus. Panelists include civil rights attorney Nabih Ayad, Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee Region Director Imad Hamad, and Detroit NAACP General Counsel Butch Hollowell. Moderating the discussion will be WXYZ-Channel 7 investigative reporter Bill Proctor.
Patriot Week is designed to invigorate an appreciation of America's spirit and offer the opportunity for Americans from all walks of life to participate in events and discussions that will trigger thought-provoking debate on what it means to be an American. Each panelist will share a five-minute statement with their thoughts and reflections on the topic. The remainder of the discussion will include a question and answer session.
This event is free and open the public. Advance registration is appreciated. Register with Lisa Stadig Elliott of the OCBA at 248-334-3400 or lstadig@ocba.org.
