Psychiatrist finds Cipriano competent to stand trial

PONTIAC (AP) -- A psychiatrist has found a 19-year-old competent to stand trial in the baseball bat beating death of his father and beatings of his mother and teenage brother. A prosecutor read the determination about Tucker Cipriano from a psychiatrist's report during a hearing Tuesday in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac. Twenty-year-old co-defendant Mitchell Young was due in court Wednesday. Cipriano and Young are charged with murder and attempted murder in the April 16 attack that left 52-year-old Robert Cipriano dead in the family's Farmington Hills home. His 51-year-old wife Rose and their 17-year-old son Sal were injured. Doctors at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry examined Tucker Cipriano. Another pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 31. Cipriano defense attorney Mitchell Ribitwer says the case likely will go to trial next spring. Published: Thu, Sep 27, 2012
