Charitable foundation seeking 'kidney cars'
The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) Kidney Cars program is looking for donations of cars, boats, trucks or vans.
Vehicles are then either auctioned to wholesale dealers or sold for parts. Donors receive a detailed receipt, including the price for which the car sold, for tax purposes. Funds raised through the NKFM's Kidney Cars program support prevention and education programs as well as direct patient services.
More than 900,000 adults in Michigan have kidney disease, and most don't know it. The NKFM is dedicated to preventing kidney disease and its leading causes, diabetes and high blood pressure, while improving the health of individuals and families that are affected by these diseases.
Interested contributors can call 1-800-488-2277 or visit kidneycars.org and the NKFM will contact donors to arrange for a free vehicle pick-up.
