Oakland County wins 21st straight financial reporting award
Oakland County has garnered the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Fiscal Year 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This is the 21st consecutive year the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has given top recognition to Oakland County.
The CAFR discloses the county's finances in full detail to anyone who wants to review them, particularly those who seek to invest in Oakland County. The GFOA awards the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to governments "whose comprehensive annual financial reports achieve the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting."
"Incredible, 21 consecutive years," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. "This award truly reflects the hard work of the county's entire Fiscal Services Division which continues to put Oakland on the map every year."
Fiscal Services Manager Tim Soave agrees.
"Literally everyone has a hand in compiling the CAFR. However, special recognition should be given to our three division chiefs who coordinated the entire effort--Penny Cremer , Lynn Sonkiss, and Holly Conforti," Soave said.
