Animal rights activist gets 6 months for trespass

DETROIT (AP) -- A Florida animal-rights activist has received a six-month jail sentence for her protests against the activities of a Wayne State University researcher. Camille Marino of Wildwood, Fla., pleaded guilty to trespassing and unlawful posting charges in a deal with the Wayne County prosecutor's office, and Judge Bryan Levy sentenced her Wednesday. She was arrested May 5 after chaining herself to a library door at Wayne State's campus in Detroit. Marino has called Donal O'Leary a "war criminal" for using dogs for cardiovascular experiments. She also posted his address and other personal information online. O'Leary had received a personal-protection order against Marino. Published: Fri, Dec 7, 2012
