Free home foreclosure prevention workshop offered by MSU, LAD
Michigan State University (MSU) Extension and Legal Aid and Defender Association Inc. (LAD) will conduct a free workshop for residents of Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties on preventing home foreclosures Tuesday, March 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Assumption Cultural Center, 21800 Marter Road in St. Clair Shores.
The workshop will cover homeowners' rights in the foreclosure process, effective strategies to avoid foreclosure and work out affordable solutions, and beneficial insights of housing counseling and home retention options.
"We understand that our neighborhoods have fallen victim to predatory lenders, abusive loan servicers, economic hard times, mortgage rescue scam artists, and other hardships," Regina Daniels Thomas, deputy chief counsel-broad based advocacy for LAD's Civil Law Group, said. "As a result many are struggling with unaffordable mortgages, pending foreclosures, and uncooperative lenders unwilling to work out a reasonable solution."
Registration is not required, but seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For additional information, call LAD at (313) 967-5630.
