Lecture to focus on cases involving sexual assault and juvenile life sentences
Cooley Law School's Center for Ethics, Service and Professionalism will host a discussion on sexual assault and the class-action lawsuit, Neal v. Michigan Department of Corrections, at its Wednesday, March 6, "Integrity in Our Communities" event.
Attorney Cary McGehee, a trial lawyer for the suit, will speak about her work on behalf of the 500 female prisoners who were sexually assaulted by male prison guards and who filed the suit against the Michigan Department of Corrections. McGehee, a founding partner of Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Rivers, & Golden PC, will also discuss her current justice initiative of acquiring mitigation hearings for juveniles previously sentenced to mandatory life in prison without parole.
Cooley's Integrity in our Communities speaker series offers students, staff, faculty and guests the opportunity to hear attorneys, judges, and dedicated professionals speak about ethics, service, and professionalism.
The lecture will start at noon in Room 145 of Cooley's Auburn Hills campus, 2630 Featherstone Road. Lunch will be provided for those who attend the March 6 event.
