Real Property Law Section to host Summer Conference

The State Bar of Michigan Real Property Law Section (RPLS) will host its 2013 summer conference, "Returning to our Roots -- Conventional Real Estate Practice Fundamentals for 2013," from July 10-13 at Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa in Thompsonville, Michigan. Programs and workshops will cover such topics as "Lean, Mean, Seen & Green -- Solving the Top Issues in Buying, Financing, Leasing & Renovating Commercial Real Estate," "Threading the Needle: Negotiating and Drafting Insurance Provisions in Leases, Mortgage Documents and Other Real Estate Contracts," "Job 1: Get Your Client's Shovel in the Ground: Navigating Your Way Through the Municipal Approval Process," "Finishing the Jigsaw Puzzle -- Creative Development of Infill & Difficult Parcels" and "Environmental Essentials for the Real Estate Attorney." A special presentation will be given by Ken Segall, author of "Insanely Simple: The Obsession that Drives Apple's Success." Segall is an advertising executive who worked closely with Steve Jobs for over 12 years spanning NeXT and Apple. He started the i-frenzy by naming the iMac and led the team that created Apple's famous "Think Different" campaign. Segall will speak about the power of simplicity, offering an inside look at life in the world of Steve Jobs and valuable advice to help any organization get better results. Prior to Tuesday, May 14, the registration fee is $285 for Real Property Law Section members who are also first time attendees, $325 for other Real Property Law Section members and $375 for non-section members. After May 14, the registration fee is $325 for Real Property Law Section members who are also first-time attendees, $385 for other Real Property Law Section members and $430 for non-section members.
