Woman sentenced to life in grandson's drowning
MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) -- A Macomb County woman will spend the rest of her life in prison after a judge denied her request for a fifth trial in the bathtub drowning of her 4-year-old grandson.
A Macomb County jury convicted Terry Borgia in March of first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse in DeAngelo Tobia's 2010 slaying. Circuit Court Judge Peter Maceroni affirmed that Wednesday before sentencing the 64-year-old Borgia.
Borgia stood trial three earlier times before she was found guilty of first-degree murder in her fourth trial.
DeAngelo drowned at a Clinton Township apartment Borgia shared with her adult daughter, who's the boy's aunt.
