Papers sought for Wayne State University's annual citizenship conference
DETROIT (AP) -- Wayne State University is calling for papers for its next international conference dealing with citizenship.
The Detroit university seeks proposals for its 11th annual Center for the Study of Citizenship conference next March. The theme is "Place, (Dis)Place and Citizenship."
Organizers say they want to explore attachments to specific geographical areas and disruptions caused by "modern revolutions in communication, transportation and technology."
Proposals are due by Oct. 15. The best papers will be considered for inclusion in a volume in the Wayne State University Press book series called "Citizenship Studies."
The conference is planned for March 20-22.
This year's conference drew scholars from 18 countries. Topics included uprisings in the Arab world and artists raising awareness on issues of identity and culture.
