Trial date set in Mich. freeway shootings case
HOWELL (AP) -- A man charged by the Michigan attorney general's office with a series of shootings on and off Interstate 96 a year ago will stand trial early next year in Livingston County.
A Jan. 13 trial date was set during a court hearing last Friday for Raulie Casteel.
Casteel faces attempted murder among 60 charges in Oakland County linked to shootings in Commerce Township and Wixom. The 44-year-old is to stand trial in that case in November.
The AG's office is prosecuting Casteel on terrorism and other charges in Livingston County.
He's accused in two-dozen random shootings in a four-county area in October 2012.
Defense attorney Douglas Mullkoff said last Friday his client has decided not to seek an insanity defense. Mullkoff previously said Casteel has been diagnosed as having a delusional disorder.
