Law firm files suit against Four Tops

PONTIAC (AP) -- A Detroit-area law firm has filed suit against the Four Tops, claiming the singing group owes it $109,000 in legal fees. Sullivan, Ward, Asher, & Patton filed the lawsuit in Oakland County Circuit Court. According to The Detroit News, the Southfield firm says it has provided legal services on behalf of the Four Tops, but the group failed to pay an outstanding balance of $109,156.73. Four Tops spokesman Matt Lee said last Thursday he had no comment. The group was a key member of the Motown Records family of artists during the Detroit label's 1960s heyday. Abdul "Duke" Fakir is the only original member still with the group. He's named in the suit. The Four Tops' hits include "Reach Out, I'll Be There" and "Baby I Need Your Loving."
