Mediation Center offers training in December

The Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) has opened its doors to an 8-Hour Advanced Mediator Training in December to expand the minds of intermediaries and dig deep into their souls for the recognition that every dispute brings new challenges. "The Beginning, Middle, End and all the Sticky Stuff In-Between" will meet the circuit court roster requirements of advanced mediation training and enhance the mediator's skill set. Course content will address the core elements of the court approved model and will include: decision fatigue in mediation; utilizing the joint session; ethics and mediator styles; working the middle of the negotiation process, and working with multiple parties. Foundational skills as a mediator will also be reviewed as well as enhancing negotiation techniques and becoming a proactive negotiation coach in commercial mediation. Tracy Allen, of Global Resolutions PLLC, will be delivering the training. Allen is an international professional mediator, arbitrator and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) trainer. Her ADR practice is heavily focused in national and international commercial and business disputes although she regularly conducts mediations and arbitrations involving securities, employment, health care law, real estate, family, and public policy matters. This SCAO approved training will be offered Thursday, Dec. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $295 and will include breakfast, lunch and refreshments. Mediators must have completed the 40-hour Civil or Domestic Relations Mediation Training prior to this event.
