Animal Control steps up to help Oakland sheriff collect coats for kids
Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center is helping the Oakland County Sheriff's Office keep kids warm this winter. For every new or clean used coat an individual donates to Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard's "Coats for the Cold" drive at the center, he or she will receive $5 off pet adoption fees, up to $50. This year's coat drive runs from Nov. 1-30.
"This is a win-win for everyone," Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. "Not only will some deserving kids have new coats to keep themselves warm this winter, but there is the added incentive to give some dogs and cats a loving home."
Bouchard thanked Patterson for his support of the coat drive.
"I'm proud to partner with Brooks Patterson to marry two great causes--Brooks' efforts to expand the adoption of pets and my annual collection and delivery of coats to people in need. I encourage people to get involved in both efforts," Bouchard said.
The new or clean, used coats collected during the month of November will be given to several different charitable organizations, who will then distribute the coats to those most in need at no cost.
To receive the discount on pet adoption fees, one must drop the coats off at Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center at 1700 Brown Road in Auburn Hills.
