Historic Detroit recording studio opens for tours
DETROIT (AP) -- A historic Detroit recording studio is reopening after a successful sneak peak.
The United Sound Systems Recording Studio is holding a grand opening event Feb. 8 with guided tours of the landmark facility in the city's Midtown neighborhood.
The opening follows an open house last month in which George Clinton and colleagues in Parliament and Funkadelic shared memories of recording there.
The studio is where Berry Gordy cut a record that would lead the way to the Motown dynasty. In addition to Clinton and his cohorts, Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers laid down tracks at the studio.
Tours will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, and admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children and seniors. The studio is open and available by appointment.
