Armed moviegoer with CIA badge sentenced to probation
FLINT (AP) - A man who carried a loaded gun and wore body armor while seeing a movie in Michigan has avoided jail time for a phony CIA identification badge.
Cassidy Delavergne appeared Wednesday in federal court in Flint where he earlier pleaded guilty to having the badge. He was sentenced to one year of probation.
Delavergne had a permit to carry a concealed weapon and wasn't charged with a gun crime. He says he regrets his actions and never meant to scare anyone.
His attorney has said Delavergne wore a CIA badge around his neck because he was watching "Red 2." The movie is an action comedy involving a retired agent and his team of operatives.
Management at the Grand Blanc Township theater has said Delavergne wasn't threatening anyone.
