Oakland County's decade of digital prowess recognized in survey
Oakland County is ranked among the most digitally advanced counties in America for the 10th year in a row in the 2014 Digital Counties Survey by the Center for Digital Government (CDG). The survey is conducted by CDG, Government Technology magazine, and the National Association of Counties. It evaluates counties on their ability to maximize services and improve transparency through the strategic use of technology.
"Our IT team's commitment to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services is a model for the rest of Michigan and the nation," Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. "The county's innovations in cloud computing are improving delivery of services to our residents and communities, as well as helping others around the state and nation."
CDG Executive Director Todd Sander said in a recent press release that collaboration is enabling governments to find better solutions.
"Congratulations to this year's winners for their dedication to public service and forging partnerships that proactively address rapidly changing citizen demands and expectations," Sander said. "Their ability to be continually innovative in an ever changing technology landscape is admirable and commendable."
Oakland County is in the top five this year among counties with a population of 500,000 or more.
"Innovation is the key to providing quality government services," Deputy County Executive/CIO Phil Bertolini said. "Oakland County's IT team is some of the most innovative technology professionals in the country and this recognition validates their hard work."
