Legal Aid and Defender Association Inc. (LAD) will sponsor a free informational workshop for employers on hiring former criminal offenders on Thursday, March 26 at Michigan First Credit Union in Lathrup Village.
Hours of the workshop are 1:30-3:30 p.m.; the address is 27000 Evergreen.
Speakers will include representatives from LAD, the state Department of Corrections and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Also on hand will be former offenders recently released from incarceration.
Employers will learn about the advantages of hiring former offenders, potential liability for refusing to hire them, prisoner re-entry programs and community safety.
