Author to discuss newest book 'Once in a Great City: A Detroit Story'
On Thursday, Feb. 25, noted author David Maraniss will discuss his newest bestseller "Once in a Great City: A Detroit Story" from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Detroit Room of the Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit.
"Once in a Great City" chronicles 1963 Detroit during the emergence of Motown and birth of the Mustang with tales of Henry Ford II, Walter Reuther, Mayor Jerome Cavanagh, Berry Gordy, Martin Luther King, and Reverend C.L. Franklin.
Born in Detroit, Maraniss is an associate editor at The Washington Post. Maraniss is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and bestselling author of numerous books, including "First in His Class: A Biography of Bill Clinton"; "Rome 1960: The Olympics that Stirred the World"; "Barack Obama: The Story"; "Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball's Last Hero"; and "When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi."
