Dispute settled over firing at U of M health system

ANN ARBOR (AP) — A lawsuit has been settled that accused the University of Michigan of illegally firing an administrator who said black patients and visitors were victims of racial profiling at campus hospitals.

The Ann Arbor News reports  Dr. Carmen Green and the schools’ board of regents settled before this month’s scheduled trial.

Green’s attorney Jim Fett says his client didn’t want to reveal the amount.

Green was ousted as head of the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion in 2015.

In a court filing, the university had said she bullied co-workers and had “leadership deficiencies.”

But Green, who is black, argued she was removed because of unflattering news.

The tenured professor reported security was being called more often to deal with blacks, who were grieving or emotional, than whites.
