The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan recently conducted a scholarship presentation to honor recipients of the Annual Ralph M. Freeman Foundation Law School and College Scholarships. On hand for the presentation at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit were Judge George Caram Steeh (second from left), Chief Judge Denise Page Hood (fourth from right), Judge Laurie J. Michelson (third from right) and Judge Sean F. Cox (far right). Scholarships were awarded to (left to right) Raina Bhatt, Nadia Maraachli, Bennett Hart, Elizabeth Gardey, Andrea Randall, Alexandra Hinojosa, Nicholas Bell and Jesse Belanger. Ralph M. Freeman was a U.S. District judge for the Eastern District for more than 35 years. The law school scholarships continue Freeman’s legacy of justice, advocacy, and civility. ?The $1,000 scholarships are granted to a law student at the five Michigan law schools. ?The Freeman Foundation also awards four college scholarships to students of full-time permanent employees of the District Court, Bankruptcy Court, Probation Department, and Pretrial Services Agency.
