General Motors General Counsel and Executive Vice President Craig B. Glidden delivered the keynote address at the Edward H. Rakow Luncheon presented recently by the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. FBA President Saura Sahu happily thanked Glidden for addressing the event.

The luncheon traditionally has an economic theme rooted in securities and bankruptcy law. To a packed room of approximately 300 federal judges and lawyers, Glidden offered a content-packed speech about the important role and substantial impact of the federal courts in economic life and policy, as personally witnessed by him at the helms of three international law departments.

The luncheon also honored preeminent lawyer Earle Erman with the Barbara Rom Award for Excellence in Bankruptcy Law and featured the remarks of U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Murphy III and Court Historical Society speaker Prof. Robert Ackerman of Wayne State University Law School.

Among those attending the luncheon were (front row, left to right) Barbara Rom Award recipient Earle Erman of Maddin, Hauser, Roth, & Heller PC; Ann Cathcart Chaplin, deputy general counsel for litigation at GM; U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Murphy III; FBA President Saura J.
