Brinks attorney Michael Spink named to IAM Strategy 300

Brinks Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., announced that Michael N. Spink, a shareholder in the Ann Arbor office, has been named to the 2019 IAM Strategy 300 – The World’s Leading IP Strategists. The annual guide to globally recognized creators of IP value is published by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine. It is the fourth time Spink has been named to the list.

Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) focuses on the many ways in which intellectual property and intangible assets can be used to create corporate value. The IAM Strategy 300 identifies attorneys, consultants, financiers and others whose primary expertise is assisting IP owners in maximizing the value of their IP portfolio. Only those individuals nominated multiple times by different parties as outstanding IP strategists are listed in the IAM Strategy 300.

Spink has extensive experience in complex transactions involving intellectual property, including due diligence, acquisition, disposition and bankruptcy issues. He focuses on portfolio management and support, including performing portfolio classification, mapping and analysis, and linking intellectual asset strategies to business and product strategies, thereby enhancing clients’ intellectual property protection. His practice includes on all aspects of client counseling, procurement, licensing and opinions on patents, trademarks and copyrights.

Spink, a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP), is co-chair of Brinks’ licensing group and is involved in several other practice groups, including patent prosecution, trademark, trade secrets and copyright.

He is co-chair of the Michigan chapter of LES, an international professional society comprised of nearly 3,000 members engaged in the transfer, use, development, manufacture and marketing of intellectual property.
