A number of people have been getting calls supposedly from the Jackson County Health Department asking for information about health insurance coverage or other questions.
This is someone or an agency impersonating the Department—and probably a scam targeting the elderly to obtain sensitive information.
Due to privacy reasons, the Health Department would never call and leave a message asking for health insurance information.
If you receive one of these calls, ask the caller to identify themselves, and ask for a name and number, and report it to the police by calling 911; or call the Jackson County Health Department at 517-788-4420.
