Virtual Legislative Town Hall offered
The Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association (MMLA) along with the Mortgage Bankers Association will present a Virtual Legislative Town Hall on Wednesday, August 5, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Guest speakers Senator Gary Peters and Representative Bill Huizenga will discuss current housing and financial services legislation/reform in Washington, D.C.
Peters represents the State of Michigan in the U.S. Senate. In the 116th Congress, He serves as ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and the Joint Economic Committee. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008 and was a member of the House Financial Services Committee.
Huizenga represents Michigan's 2nd Congressional District. Huizenga was first elected to Congress in 2010 and is currently serving in his fifth term. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, Huizenga has focused on removing government-imposed barriers to private sector job creation and increasing transparency across the federal government. He has been selected to serve as ranking member on the Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets Subcommittee for the 116th Congress.
