The State Bar of Michigan’s Information Technology Law Section will present the “Annual IT Law Seminar” on Thursday September 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This free, one-day, virtual event will be held through Zoom. There will be a morning session, the section and council meetings, and an afternoon session.
Morning and afternoon sessions will consist of three educational presentations each.
The schedule will include:
• 9-9:10 a.m.—Welcome and introduction from Moderator Mark G. Malven, the leader of the Technology and Outsourcing Transactions practice at Dykema Gossett
• 9:10-10 a.m.—The Art of Counseling: Innovative Products and Services with Vineet Shahani, director, Legal at Google LLC
• 10-10:50 a.m.—Contracting Through Clickwrap: Factors Affecting Enforceability with Jeanne Whalen, member of Dykema
• 11:05-11:55 a.m.—Privacy Law Update with Robert L. Rothman, principal of Privacy Associates International LLC, and Keith Cheresko, principal of Privacy Associates International LLC
• 12:30 p.m.—IT Law Section and Council Meeting and Passing of the Gavel
• 1:30-2:25 p.m.—Emerging Issues in Biometrics—Legal Issues and Best Practices with Cinthia Motley, director, Dykema Global Data Privacy and Information Security practice group, and Chris Graveline, associate director of Administration, Professional Standards and Constitutional Policing, Detroit
Police Department
• 2:25-3:15 p.m.—How to Speak Security: Understanding & Translating Cloud Security Risks for Internal & External Clients with Mandy Legal, legal director, Cisco Systems Inc. and Kyle McLaughlin, senior product counsel, Cisco Systems, Inc.
• 3:30-4:20 p.m.—Legal and Technology Lessons Learned from the COVID-19 Experience with Matt Clayson, VP and general counsel, Detroit Trading, and other presenters to be confirmed.
