Panel to discuss becoming successful ADR providers

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Michigan will present a free webinar on "How Successful Diverse ADR Practitioners Grow and Develop Their Practices" on Wednesday, April 21, from noon to 1:30 p.m. A panel of experienced arbitrators and mediators will provide advice and information on how attorneys can become a successful alternative dispute resolution providers. The panel will discuss important subjects such as how to start out and then succeed in the ADR profession, along with: - Why and how did the panel members enter the ADR profession? - How can diversity and inclusion become a reality? - What worked for the panel members in becoming successful ADR practitioners? - What did not work for them? - What are the lessons they have learned and the mistakes they have made? - What is networking and how can you network to help you successfully attain your goals? The moderator will be Antoinette Raheem. She is a former chair of the ADR Section and has received the ADR Section's Distinguished Service Award. She is a member of the Professional Resolution Experts of Michigan LLC. Raheem is also an adjunct professor of ADR at Wayne State University Law School, Michigan State University College of Law, and Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Panel members include: -Earlene Baggett-Hayes. She has received the ADR Section's Distinguished Service Award, Sojourner Truth Civil Rights Award, Woman of Excellence Award, American Business Women's Professionalism Award, Leon Hubbard Community Service Award, and the Business Women's Professionalism Award. Baggett-Hayes is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Arbitrators, a member of The National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the Professional Resolution Experts of Michigan LLC. -Lee Hornberger. He is a former chair of the ADR Section and has received the ADR Section's George N. Bashara Jr. Award. Hornberger is a member of the Professional Resolution Experts of Michigan LLC and a diplomate member of The National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. -E.R. Scales. He is an attorney, arbitrator, and human resources, labor relations, and benefits consultant. He has been on the labor panel of the American Arbitration Association since 1989, the FMCS panel since 2007, and serves on several other arbitration panels. Scales is a past president of both the Michigan Association of School Personnel Administrators and the Michigan Negotiators Association. He has taught arbitration, labor relations, and contract administration at Wayne State University School of Business.
